I am a poet, award-winning journalist, and writer, whose work has appeared in The New York Times, TED, The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, Modern Loss, The Common literary magazine, TueNight and more.
I am writing a literary memoir about a span of three years during my 20s when I made what I once thought was the biggest mistake of my life, only to realize it took that “mistake” to learn to love myself and regain a sense of self worth. Through this writing I have come to advocate for an era of post-shame, where we are all invited to live without the fear of what others might think of us and the self-loathing that comes from the painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love.
My bilingual poetry chapbook, Knowing / Saber debuted at #1 for Hispanic American Poetry in 2024.
I also offer “poetry for non-poets” creative writing workshops, which one attendee called “an emotional defibrillator.” Please follow my newsletter for updates on new offerings or reach out with requests.
The Em Dash on Substack
Deep, sometimes irreverent, and always emotionally-thoughtful essays with a note of whimsy.
